State Blood Cell 

Status of Implementation

•      State Blood Cell was implemented in Mizoram since October, 2016 and currently, the Programme is being implemented in nine (9) districts namely Aizawl East, Aizawl West, Champhai, Lunglei, Kolasib, Mamit, Siaha, Lawngtlai and Serchhip Districts.

 Goal

•      Adequate, safe supply of blood and blood components. Strengthening Blood Banks and Blood Storage Centres in terms of man power, equipments and consumables.

 At present, there are 11 licensed Blood Banks in Mizoram, 9 are Govt. owned & 2 are private owned. There are 12 (Twelve) Blood Storage Centres (BSCs).

 Current Staff Details under SBC:

1.      State Coordinator - 1

2.      Technical Supervisor – 1

3.      Data Entry Operators – 10

4.      BCTV (Blood Collection & Transportation Van) staff includes 1 Medical Officer, 1 Social Worker, 1 Attendant, 1 Driver and 1 Van Cleaner

5.      Blood Bank Medical Officer – 1

Present status of Blood Bank in Mizoram:

There are 11 licensed blood banks in Mizoram, out of which 9 (nine) are government owned and 2 (two) are charitable hospitals. The 9 (nine) licensed Govt. owned Blood Banks are as follows:

1.      Civil Hospital, Aizawl (Aizawl East District)

2.      State Referral Hospital, Falkawn (Aizawl West District)

3.      District Hospital, Champhai (Champhai District)

4.      District Hospital, Kolasib (Kolasib District)

5.      District Hospital, Lawngtlai (Lawngtlai District)

6.      District Hospital, Lunglei (Lunglei District)

7.      District Hospital, Mamit (Mamit District)

8.      District Hospital, Saiha (Saiha District)

9.      District Hospital, Serchhip (Serchhip District)

The State also has 12 (twelve) Blood Storage Centres as mentioned below:

 1.      Sakawrdai CHC, Aizawl East District

2.      Saitual CHC, Aizawl East District

3.      Mizoram State Cancer Institute, Zemabawk, Aizawl East District

4.      Kulikawn SDH, Aizawl West District

5.      Ngopa CHC, Champhai District

6.      Biate CHC, Champhai District

7.      Vairengte CHC, Kolasib District

8.      Hnahthial CHC, Lunglei District

9.      Kawrthah CHC, Mamit District

10.  Chawngte CHC, Lawngtlai District

11.  Thenzawl CHC, Serchhip District

12.  Tlabung SDH, Lunglei District

Activities: (FY 2021 – 2022)

     File cabinet, stethoscope, BP instrument, pulse oximeter, table and chairs have been procured for ICHH (Integrted Centre for Haemophilia & Hemoglobinopathies) centre in Civil Hospital, Aizawl.

·         Tablet Deferasirox 250 mg and 500 mg has also been procured for patients of Thallassemia.

·         Procurement of HPLC machine for screening of Thalassemia & Sickle Cell Anaemia in process.

·         Observance of World Blood Donor Day on 14^th June, 2021 in all the districts.

·         Observance of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day on 1^st October, 2021 in all Blood Banks.

·         Supervisory visit of Blood Bank, Champhai on 9^th December, 2021.

·         Supervisory visit of Blood Bank, Mamit on 27^th February, 2022.

·         Supervisory visit of Thenzawl BSC on 22nd March, 2022

·         Supervisory visit of Blood Bank, Lawngtlai on 23rd March, 2022

·         Supervisory visit of Blood Bank, Siaha on 24th, March, 2022.
